What the Snow?

This morning, I was a bit grouchy.  (and that's kind of a gross under-exaggeration)

When my alarm went off, I stumbled over to the bathroom to shower, as per my usual morning routine (in case you haven't noticed yet, I do quite a bit of staggering and stumbling in the morning, much like a fraternity pledge does after his first party), only to discover the door was locked and Schuyler was already in the shower.  So what's a girl to do but crawl back into bed?

5 minutes later, Schuyler emerged from the bathroom FAR more awake and exuberant than any human being should be at that hour of the morning.  He poked his head in to my room with an enthusiastic, "GOOOOOOOOD MORNING!"

I'm sure I muttered something in response but quite honestly it doesn't matter what my words were as the gist of it was, "Shut up I hate you right now." (Pleasant, right? Nothing irks me quite so much as an overly animated person first thing in the morning)

So I grudgingly get out of bed for the second time and take a shower, after which I returned to my room and stared longingly at my bed before beginning the process of dressing.  Once again, I hear Schuyler's voice through our paper-thin apartment walls.

"NATALIE!  LOOK OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW!  IT'S SNOWING!"

Ha. ha. You're not going to get me on that one, Shoes.  It's too early and I'm too sleep-deprived to play your games.

Only, curiosity got the best of me and I peeked.  Turns out he was telling the truth!  Thick, gloppy, frisbee-sized flakes of snow drifted from the sky.  Honestly, the hugest flakes I've ever seen.  Where did this come from?

Schuyler was a bit ba-hum-bug about the snow, claiming he wishes this winter business would disappear.  I, on the other hand, am my mother's daughter.  I literally SKIPPED through the parking lot on the way to the bus.  I was covered with snow by the time we got to our bus stop and absolutely soaking wet within minutes, but a happy girl none-the-less.

It kind of reminded me of this day a few years back when we were hit with that nasty winter storm.
Joelle and I braved the elements and went on a walking journey to Dutch Bros and the local consignment shop, where we purchased "The Holiday" with the collective change we had left over from our coffee and snuggled on the couch to watch it.  There's something so magical about a storm.  All to-do lists disappear and everyone has an excuse, for at least a day, to hunker down and veg.

Of course all evidence of snow disappeared before noon today, so my dreams of Arctic Blast 2011 are still only dreams.  sigh.
