edZapp

In preparation for this Educator Fair on January 31 (you know, the one where I have an interview for positions for next year), I have to fill out an application online.

I've known about this forever......

I just started it tonight. Whoops.

Okay that's kind of a lie. I did open the site up a month or so ago, only to become completely overwhelmed by it and instantly click over to facebook instead. Sigh. Apparently this thing is supposed to be great because I can apply for all sorts of teaching jobs with it. I just hate that I've been reduced to a series of scroll-down-menu-bar-selections, rather than the real me. Trust me, I'm much more exciting in person. But of course, you already know that. :)

On one of the pages I got to list my top three job preferences. I considered selecting positions in Wyoming, but decided I'll stick with Oregon for now.

In other news, I just found out my topic for my worksample for this term: writing. Yup, it is that broad. I have ten lessons to teach "writing" to third graders. I'm thinking I will make up a song for my students about the Writing Process, to the tune of the 12 Days of Christmas. Maybe? Who knows. In all honesty, it would probably be more for me than them anyways. Singing about it just sounds so much better than actually doing it. Because who are we trying to kid? No one actually goes through the six steps of the writing process anyways.

Especially not in the age of word-processing and online job applications.

I want you to sing me your song when you are done composing it...I didn't even know there are steps to writing...apparently I could use a refresher! lol :)

And yes, you are WAY more interesting than a bunch of drop down menus can convey. But I have faith you will still shine though.

1) Write the song and give me a copy. I don't know if you saw it when you were in my class, but I have rainbow boards for each step of the writing process, and kids get to move their name to show what step they are on.

2) Fill out the EdZapp but totally take your resume with you. When I got my job, it was the last day of the school year and they were all "Edzapp is down", so I was like, "here is my gloriously beautiful resume."
