Awkward and Awesome Thursday
AWKWARD:
- Green tea ice cream. Sounds good in theory. Tastes atrocious in practice.
- That whistling noise your nose sometimes make when you have a tiny bit of a cold and are trying to fall asleep.
- Unibrows, and the overwhelming sensation I have to tweeze them.
- The 2.5 seconds that the "walk" sign flashes when traversing a crosswalk, instantly followed by the ominous red hand. Who the heck walks that quickly?
- Hiccups.
AWESOME:
- Toms shoes. One for one. I'm still dreaming of these guys (even if Boyfriend says they are ugly):
- I only have one more term left of this school year!
- Recycling. Especially how simple it is these days. If you don't recycle, you have NO excuse. Shame on you for being lazy.
- Thunder and Lightning storms. This week, I'm fairly certain the sky cracked open RIGHT above my apartment complex. It was surreal. The only thing that would have made it better is a power outage.
- Eating home made spinach artichoke dip (I used this recipe) and wheat thins while watching Glee on my laptop.... in the bubble bath. What a glorious way to begin my Spring Break.

Lightening and thunder can be awesome... bringing a shocking awareness of nature. Couple that with the quiet and dark of a power outage and some guilt free dessert from the refrigerator and that is even more awesome.

Recycling- yeah, I have a friend that just doesn't do it- I'm truly baffled. I used to be saddened by the complete lack of recycle bins out every other week on my street. I just couldn't comprehend how people could simply not take the time to throw their newspapers in the specially colored bins. And their plastic bottles and soda cans. How lazy can you get?! However, we are in a test neighborhood and now have the ginormous bins that everything that can be recycled goes in one bin and it goes out everyday the trash can goes out so there is a lot less sorting and less confusion about remembering which day to put out the recycling. the new almost mindless approach has brought our street's participation rate up to more like 80%. I'm pleased.
When I lived in Florida for the summer, I used to sit on the couch and watch the thunder and lighting storms from my big tall top story windows with the same awe and reverance most people watched the Disney fireworks. God puts on such an awesome show. of course, it's better if you are eating pudding in your parents bed in the middle of the night.....
