Has it been a year already?
Dear Luke and Abbey,
I can't believe it was a year ago that I wrote this post.
I can't believe it was a year ago that I anxiously drove from Salem, worried I might arrive to the hospital too late.
I can't believe it was a year ago that I gingerly tiptoed into your mommy's hospital room to kiss her forehead and tell her I loved her before she (finally) took a nap.
I can't believe it was a year ago that I escorted your dad to the small "restaurant" on the first floor for a quick meal and some small talk while your mommy napped.
I can't believe it was a year ago that I fidgeted my way through grading and typing 18 bilingual fairy tales written by my third grade students, waiting for your arrival.
I can't believe it was a year ago that I learned to shuffle playing cards into the bridge, while chatting with your grandparents and your Auntie Em.
I can't believe it was a year ago that I prayed fiercely with your grandparents and Auntie Em after receiving a text from your dad.
I can't believe it was a year ago that we rejoiced over delicious red velvet cupcakes at "take luck" time, because we knew you were close to arriving.
I can't believe it was a year ago that your father called and we heard your precious cries in the background. My eyes instantly filled with tears. And then we got the best news: we could come and meet you!
I can't believe it was a year ago that I held you both for the very first time. Words will never express how much love I felt for you then.
And I simply can't believe how much more I love you now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
TAKE LUCK! |
This was the moment I first saw you. |
This was my first time with both of you in my arms. |
This was how I spent every morning for the first week of your life. I took a week off work and it was honestly the best week of MY life. |
This was your Dedication Day. Oh my did your mommy and I work hard on your outfits! |
This was, obviously, the first time I tried to wear one of you and carry the other one around the house. Not easy, guys. |
And THIS is our favorite thing to do together. I love my little bookworms. :) |
Here's to many more years of adventures ahead. I love you,
Your (favorite) Auntie Natalie

Your blog post a year ago was so moving. Your posts since then, also. Today, more so.
Thanks for being such a good sister and Auntie Natalie at Twinadoes' 1st Birthday Celebration.
Luke & Abbey are blessed... and a blessing.
LOVE,
DAD
